Senior Backend Engineer (Poland, Remote)

Role overview A digital insurance marketplace is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to own its core carrier access and onboarding funnel—the first touchpoint for thousands of independent agents. The position is high-ownership and focused on access automation, SSO, and complex architectural work on critical systems that operate under heavy load.

Responsibilities - Drive access automation and SSO implementation, replacing manual carrier processes with scalable API integrations - Rebuild licensing and access-sharing structures through deep architectural analysis and safe execution - Own critical funnel paths including sign-up, onboarding, and producer state automations, plus compliance, team-member features, and legal access regulations - Balance shifting priorities between urgent compliance/SSO requests and onboarding funnel reliability - Participate in technical discussions and product discovery, translating requirements into architecture - Occasionally communicate directly with external clients and partners

Requirements - 6+ years of commercial backend experience with deep proficiency in Node.js, TypeScript, NestJS, PostgreSQL, and asynchronous architectures - Strong theoretical foundation in design patterns and clean architecture with a sharp eye for detail - Team-oriented mindset with mentoring capability and outstanding communication - Startup mindset with high ownership, ability to prioritize under pressure, and drive to improve existing solutions - Growth mindset and willingness to dive into legacy code to safely introduce structural changes - Familiarity with modern LLM tools, or strong willingness to learn - Based in Poland with flexibility for partial US time zone overlap - C1 English and C2 Polish fluency
