Senior Data Engineer (SQL, dbt)

Role overview Build and operate data pipelines and transformations that support digital learning products, while also contributing to the web services and applications around them. The work spans data engineering, infrastructure, and full-stack development, with a focus on dependable production systems and collaboration across distributed teams.

Responsibilities - Design and maintain scalable ELT pipelines and data transformations using SQL and dbt. - Improve data quality, consistency, and reliability across pipeline outputs. - Manage technical environments with Terraform and infrastructure-as-code practices. - Develop and support services and web applications using Node.js, TypeScript, GraphQL, and React. - Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines, applications, and infrastructure; contribute to ongoing improvements. - Collaborate with data, product, and engineering teams, including through code reviews and technical discussions. - Join a four-week on-call cycle, covering one week as primary and one week as backup.

Requirements - Strong practical data engineering experience, including advanced SQL, dbt, ELT processes, and pipeline development. - Experience with Terraform and infrastructure-as-code. - Web application development experience with Node.js, TypeScript, GraphQL, and React across backend and frontend components. - Strong troubleshooting skills and a focus on reliability, maintainability, and production support. - Ability to work with distributed, cross-functional teams and colleagues in the US Mountain Time zone. - Availability for the stated primary and backup on-call rotation. - Intermediate to upper-intermediate English.

Nice to have - Familiarity with Snowflake, AWS, Apache Airflow, Looker, or Python. - Experience with GitHub workflows, version control, pull requests, and collaborative code review.
