Job details
About this role
Role overview Lead the analytics engineering function that powers pricing, risk, fraud, and revenue reporting for a large portfolio of product protection, shipping protection, and warranty programs. This is a hands-on people-management role running a remote team of analytics and data engineers, reporting to a senior engineering leader in data engineering.
Responsibilities - Hire, onboard, develop, and performance-manage a distributed team of analytics and data engineers. - Own the shared Snowflake warehouse and dbt repository, setting standards for tests, documentation, CI, and PR review across every team that ships into it. - Maintain ingestion and pipeline infrastructure including AWS Glue, Step Functions, Lambda, CDK-driven jobs, external tables, and source-freshness monitoring. - Model core business domains such as orders, contracts, claims, and service orders, keeping definitions consistent for actuarial, risk, fraud, product, and finance consumers. - Lead platform migrations (including moving dbt execution to Snowflake-native tooling) and retire legacy components on a planned timeline. - Run platform operations: on-call, monitoring, alerting, incident triage, root-cause follow-through, and the AI-assisted workflows already used for alert triage and file processing.
Requirements - 2+ years managing data or analytics engineers, including hiring and career development; strong lead engineers with technical-direction ownership will also be considered. - Advanced SQL and dimensional modeling experience across a business domain with competing consumer needs. - Deep hands-on dbt ownership: version control, testing, PR review, CI, and standards-setting. - Python plus cloud data infrastructure experience on AWS (Glue, Step Functions, Lambda, CDK). - Track record running on-call for a data platform, building trusted alerting, and leading incident response. - Clear written communication for architecture proposals, incident reviews, and tradeoff summaries.
Nice to have Actuarial, risk, or fraud analytics; warranty, insurance, or service-contract programs; financial and revenue reporting; privacy and deletion compliance at scale; BI administration; or AI-assisted engineering workflows.
Benefits and work setup Target base salary of $165,000–$195,000. Full medical, dental, and vision benefits; equity; flexible paid time off; 401(k) with financial guidance. Remote team with headquarters in San Francisco. No immigration sponsorship offered for this role.
