Role overview
A technical pre-sales engineering position supporting public safety customers within a national government practice, acting as a trusted advisor on complex geospatial deployments. The role blends deep domain knowledge of public safety operations with enterprise GIS consulting, solution design, and storytelling that helps non-technical audiences grasp the value of spatial technology.
Responsibilities
- Partner with account teams to plan and execute sales strategies, presenting and demonstrating GIS software and solutions - Build subject-matter expertise in public safety workflows alongside technical mastery of the platform to advise customers confidently - Design and propose solutions that translate spatial analysis into clear business value, aligning technology with customer mission objectives - Deliver technical demonstrations and presentations tailored to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including at conferences and trade shows - Share best practices for deploying, administering, and integrating GIS technology within enterprise environments
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience with GIS technology, including map creation, spatial analysis, and web application configuration - 1+ years of experience in the public safety domain - Understanding of GIS from an IT perspective (hardware, storage, security, networking, web services, virtualization, cloud) - Experience in technical consulting, conceptual solution design, and familiarity with sales or business development processes - Knowledge of geodatabases and underlying database management system technology, plus cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or AWS - Strong presentation, interpersonal, and listening skills, with willingness to travel domestically or internationally 25–50% - Bachelor's degree in geography, computer science, or a related field - Must be a US citizen and able to obtain and maintain a federal security clearance (Secret, TS, TS/SCI, or TS/SCI with polygraph)
Nice to have
- Troubleshooting experience with GIS application deployment and system architecture - Background integrating GIS with BI, CRM, ERP, analytics, or data warehousing platforms - Familiarity with real-time data streams and incorporating them into existing infrastructure - Basic understanding of AI or machine learning concepts - Programming or scripting experience with Python or JavaScript - Master's degree in geography, computer science, or a related field
