Role overview
A Workday-focused consulting firm is hiring an HCM Manager to lead a team of consultants while staying hands-on with client delivery. The role blends people management with functional expertise across HCM Core and additional modules, supporting primarily higher education and public sector clients through implementations and ongoing post-production work.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of up to 10 Workday HCM consultants, including regular one-on-ones, career development, and performance reviews. - Serve as a hands-on functional lead across multiple client engagements, guiding design, configuration, prototyping, testing, and go-live activities. - Act as a subject matter expert across several Workday SKUs, supporting sales presentations, demos, and estimating effort. - Support clients during annual events such as performance reviews, merit cycles, open enrollment, and ACA reporting. - Prioritize team workload using Jira, maintain accurate utilization forecasts, and report status to leadership. - Partner with Talent Acquisition on hiring, including technical interviews and onboarding of new consultants.
Requirements
- At least five years of experience as a Workday HCM lead or partner consultant at a partner firm. - Track record of independently leading at least two Phase 1 and two Phase X Workday implementations. - Active Workday HCM certification with implementer access, plus at least two additional certifications in Core Compensation, Advanced Compensation, Benefits, Talent/Performance, Recruiting, Learning, or PEX. - Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines. - Excellent verbal and written communication, with deep knowledge of Workday HCM processes and best practices. - Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team environment.
Nice to have
- Previous supervisory experience. - Workday implementation experience specifically for higher education and/or state and local government clients.
