Role overview

A Managing Technical Architect leads a regional engineering team while remaining hands-on with complex pre-sales and delivery work. The position blends people leadership, technical oversight, and solution design across multi-vendor enterprise environments. It is a senior role suited to someone who can mentor consultants and architects, engage directly with clients, and stay current on emerging technologies.

Responsibilities

- Lead, coach, and develop a distributed team of consultants, engineers, and architects, supporting their technical growth and career goals - Own quality assurance across all team projects and run monthly internal training workshops - Build and maintain strong client relationships throughout the full engagement lifecycle - Perform pre-sales engineering tasks, including bill of materials creation, statement of work development, and solution planning for multi-vendor environments - Provide technical escalation support and oversight to engineers, consultants, and architects - Partner with manufacturer and vendor engineering resources for design assistance, lab access, and ongoing product knowledge - Collaborate with services leadership on hiring, training goals, and broader strategic initiatives

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree preferred - 10+ years of hands-on IT experience - 5+ years in a Consultant or Architect role - Multiple industry-recognized certifications (examples include CCIE, VCP, NACP, CISSP) - Strong customer service skills, both on the phone and in person - Professional demeanor and the ability to develop solutions quickly under pressure - Deep, hands-on knowledge of at least two of the following: AI/ML, data modernization, virtualization, storage area networks (SAN), networking, security
