About this role
Role overview A digital and interactive content developer is needed to support a federal program modernizing weather prediction capabilities. The role sits within a small, remote team that collaborates with scientists, engineers, and external stakeholders to translate complex Earth-systems science into clear, audience-appropriate communications across web, social, and multimedia channels.
Responsibilities - Execute an end-to-end social media strategy, including editorial calendars, campaigns, publishing, monitoring, engagement, and performance measurement. - Produce newsletters, announcements, web stories, outreach materials, presentations, graphics, infographics, and short-form video aligned with established branding. - Translate highly technical scientific and policy content into accessible narratives for varied audiences. - Coordinate communications support for education efforts, events, software releases, technical milestones, and community opportunities. - Manage stakeholder engagement workflows, community feedback intake, action tracking, approvals, and reporting. - Conduct quality control on all deliverables before release.
Requirements - 3+ years of experience in a communications or content role. - Demonstrated ability to create and publish multimedia content for web and social platforms. - Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite and Canva for graphics and visual communications. - Experience running digital communication campaigns that drive audience engagement and visibility. - Ability to translate complex technical, policy, or scientific information into clear content for diverse audiences. - Strong collaboration skills for a small, remote team environment. - Proficiency with project management tools for tracking tasks, deadlines, and deliverables. - Active NOAA CAC badge and ability to pass a Department of Commerce background investigation.
Nice to have - Background in environmental or climate domains. - Familiarity with Google Analytics, Figma, Webflow, or similar tools.
