Observability Strategist

Role overview

An Observability Strategist acts as a trusted executive advisor and technical authority for enterprise organizations undergoing digital transformation. The role bridges deep technical infrastructure (metrics, logs, traces, and OpenTelemetry) with high-level business outcomes. The position partners directly with C-suite executives, VP-level engineering leaders, and SRE/DevOps teams to define, execute, and scale modern observability practices that improve system reliability, operational efficiency, and customer experience.

Responsibilities

- Translate complex telemetry data into actionable business insights, connecting application performance to revenue, retention, and operational efficiency. - Evaluate existing enterprise monitoring and observability maturity and build multi-year transformation roadmaps toward automated, AI-driven operations. - Deliver executive briefings, business reviews, and strategic workshops to CIOs, CTOs, and VP-level engineering and infrastructure stakeholders. - Architect enterprise-wide observability strategy across hybrid, multi-cloud, and microservice environments (AWS, Azure, GCP, Kubernetes). - Standardize data ingestion using OpenTelemetry alongside native platform capabilities, and help teams establish meaningful SLIs, SLOs, and automated remediation workflows. - Assist enterprise clients in building internal Observability Centers of Excellence that democratize telemetry data across development, security, and operations.

Requirements

- Hands-on familiarity with cloud-native architecture, including Kubernetes, Docker, serverless, and multi-cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP). - Strong proficiency with enterprise observability platforms, including their AI-driven analytics, workflow automation, and topology modeling features (or comparable platforms). - Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible), and modern release management strategies. - Working knowledge of SRE practices, including SLI/SLO definition, error budgets, and incident remediation patterns. - Strong executive presentation skills with a proven track record of influencing senior leadership. - Ability to articulate technical concepts clearly to non-technical business stakeholders.

Nice to have

- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or major cloud provider certifications such as AWS or Azure Solutions Architect. - Background in FinOps or Business Service Management (BSM). - Vendor-specific professional or master-level platform certifications.
