Solutions Engineer - FED CIV (D.C. Area Only)

Role overview

A pre-sales Solutions Engineer role is open for the federal civilian market, focused on advanced observability and application performance management. The role partners closely with sales to run technical evaluations, deliver demos, lead proof-of-concept engagements, and act as a trusted technical advisor for prospects and partners across the DMV region.

Responsibilities

- Deliver solution demonstrations and lead the technical evaluation portion of proof-of-concept engagements, onsite and remote. - Partner with sales representatives to identify new opportunities and expansion paths within existing accounts. - Present technical vision and solution overviews to C-suite executives and technical stakeholders. - Provide technical guidance across the Discovery, Solution Evaluation, and Solution Proposal stages of the sales cycle. - Represent the platform at trade shows, marketing events, and partner-hosted demonstrations. - Channel customer feedback into Product Management to inform roadmap and market fit. - Build and share best practices across the team and support local leadership on learning and development priorities.

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent education or experience. - 3 years of experience within the observability or application performance management space. - 3–5 years of experience in a customer-facing technical role such as solution engineering. - Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to manage multiple projects in parallel. - Must reside within the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia) area. - Ability to travel up to 30% of the time.

Nice to have

- Experience with web technologies including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. - Familiarity with programming or scripting ecosystems such as Java, .NET, PHP, Go, Node.js, and databases. - Advanced knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems. - DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering exposure, including cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP. - Experience with containers, Kubernetes or OpenShift, serverless functions, CI/CD pipelines, and automation tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Terraform.
