Observability Strategist

Role overview An Observability Strategist role focused on guiding large enterprise organizations through digital transformation by connecting deep technical telemetry (metrics, logs, traces) with measurable business outcomes. The position functions as both an executive advisor and a hands-on technical authority, partnering with senior leadership and engineering/SRE teams to modernize reliability and operations practices. It is a strategic, customer-facing role rather than a pure engineering or product seat.

Responsibilities - Translate telemetry and performance data into business insights that tie application behavior to revenue, retention, and operational efficiency. - Assess current observability maturity across large enterprises and design multi-year transformation roadmaps toward AI-assisted, automated operations. - Deliver executive briefings, business reviews, and strategic workshops for CIO, CTO, and VP-level engineering audiences. - Architect full-stack observability strategies across hybrid, multi-cloud, and microservice environments, including Kubernetes platforms on the major public clouds. - Promote open standards for data ingestion while guiding adoption of unified observability tooling and automation workflows. - Help enterprise clients stand up internal Centers of Excellence that spread observability practices across development, security, and operations teams. - Coach SRE and DevOps teams on defining meaningful SLIs, SLOs, and automated remediation patterns.

Requirements - Significant experience serving as a strategic advisor to enterprise customers, including direct engagement with C-suite and VP-level stakeholders. - Strong background in SRE, DevOps, or platform engineering with hands-on familiarity with Kubernetes, containers, serverless patterns, and multi-cloud infrastructure. - Proficiency with enterprise observability platforms covering data analytics, AI-driven analysis, topology mapping, and workflow automation, or comparable tooling. - Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (for example Terraform or Ansible), and modern release management approaches. - Excellent executive presentation skills and the ability to translate technical concepts into clear business narratives.

Nice to have - Professional or Master-level certification on a major observability platform. - Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or an equivalent cloud architect certification from a major provider. - Background in FinOps or Business Service Management practices.
