Role overview Direct the Site Reliability Engineering function for a remote-first privacy-focused technology company serving millions of users across browsers, search, and AI products. The role combines deep technical leadership on infrastructure and reliability with people management, working across software, systems, automation, and process analysis.
Responsibilities - Lead, grow, and develop an SRE team tackling reliability challenges for high-traffic, distributed systems at global scale. - Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation for large-scale deployments and drive incident response from proposal through postmortem. - Build tools, services, alerts, and automated responses that surface and address reliability risks. - Use AI-driven development and agentic workflows to accelerate engineering productivity and reliability outcomes. - Investigate root causes of instability in production systems, partnering with software engineers to ship code-level remediations. - Shape the long-term technical direction of deployment architecture to improve performance, scalability, and efficiency.
Requirements - 10+ years of relevant professional experience in reliability, platform, infrastructure, or software engineering, including 4+ years leading SRE teams. - Strong programming skills in one or more of Perl, Go, TypeScript, or Python, with advanced ability to read, write, troubleshoot, and deploy software. - Deep experience administering and troubleshooting Linux and web technologies. - Hands-on experience with Docker and Docker Compose and cloud-native architectures for reliability and scalability. - Track record of automating infrastructure provisioning and configuration management for efficiency at scale. - Comfort participating in 24x7 on-call rotations for a large-scale deployment.
