Senior Release Engineer

Role overview A Senior Release Engineer role on a newly formed Release team responsible for customer-facing software releases within an autonomous vehicle program. The position translates the strategic release vision into efficient, scalable engineering workflows for the pipelines that validate and ship software across an autonomous fleet. It is a hands-on role focused on automation, quality, and developer velocity.

Responsibilities - Collaborate on "shift-left" quality gates so only well-validated code reaches release branches. - Partner with autonomy, system readiness, and project management teams to streamline patches and bug fixes, serving as the primary contact for build-related inquiries. - Help execute the release strategy through clean branching models that keep releases isolated and stable. - Track release metrics, identify build bottlenecks, and propose data-driven improvements to release and developer velocity. - Build and maintain automation scripts that enforce release quality and keep builds compatible across diverse autonomy stacks.

Requirements - BS or MS in Engineering or equivalent knowledge and work experience. - Strong proficiency with Git and Python, plus advanced experience with CI/CD infrastructure such as GitLab CI or Jenkins. - Background in autonomous driving, robotics, or other complex software release environments. - Demonstrated ability to work in highly technical teams, translate complex requirements into working code, and communicate with cross-functional stakeholders. - Operational mindset focused on production-ready, maintainable systems.

Nice to have - Experience with cloud simulation scaling and AWS application environments. - Familiarity with Apache Airflow or similar workflow orchestration tools. - Experience with simulation-based validation frameworks.
