Role overview This contract engagement supports an affiliate, influencer, and referral marketing platform built for ecommerce brands, primarily serving Shopify stores. The work centers on backend engineering for the product, with light frontend collaboration, and helps automate everything from affiliate onboarding and product seeding to payouts and fraud prevention. It is delivered through a contractor-of-record arrangement and is a remote, independent-contractor engagement.
Responsibilities - Design, develop, test, and maintain application functionality, with roughly ninety percent of the work focused on backend services. - Deliver software features through the full development lifecycle, from requirements gathering through deployment. - Translate business and technical requirements into clean, reusable patterns aligned with a Laravel and React architecture. - Build and maintain third-party API integrations, including authentication, webhooks, rate limiting, backoff, and error handling. - Review API documentation and design technical solutions when requirements are still evolving or incomplete. - Provide light front-end development support within React where needed. - Use AI-assisted development tools where appropriate, while validating the quality of generated code and outputs. - Adhere to applicable security, confidentiality, and data protection requirements. - Collaborate with stakeholders and technical contributors to deliver agreed outcomes. - Recommend improvements to processes, development practices, and code quality.
Requirements - Five or more years of experience designing and developing software solutions. - Strong expertise in PHP and Laravel, with React experience considered advantageous. - Proven experience with API integration patterns, including authentication, webhooks, rate limiting, backoff, and error handling. - Ability to read technical documentation and translate high-level requirements into effective implementations. - Practical experience using AI tools to support software development. - Solid understanding of security and data privacy best practices. - Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently. - Track record of collaborating effectively in remote and distributed environments. - Accountability for delivering high-quality outcomes and improving ways of working. - Availability for approximately forty to fifty percent overlap with US Pacific Time working hours.
