About this role

Role overview

A remote data engineering role focused on the SaaS and cloud billing side of a multicloud intelligence platform. As customers run an increasing share of spend through SaaS tools, data clouds, and AI vendors, each with its own billing API and pricing model, this position owns the integrations that turn that scattered spend into a single trustworthy view of cost. The work is AI-augmented, with engineers expected to lean on AI tooling across exploration, coding, testing, and documentation.

Responsibilities

- Build new integrations against third-party billing and usage APIs and expand the share of customer spend visible in the platform. - Maintain existing integrations as vendors evolve their APIs and pricing models, and drive down the marginal cost of adding the next integration. - Use AI tools daily across the workflow, from exploring unfamiliar codebases and APIs to prototyping, generating and reviewing code, debugging, testing, and producing documentation. - Own the quality of integration data, including deduplication, ingestion gaps, race conditions, and reconciliation against cloud marketplace and negotiated rates. - Design and build normalisation models so dozens of differently shaped vendor bills become comparable across units, currencies, time granularity, and taxonomies. - Own orchestration, scheduling, and backfill mechanics for ingestion pipelines so backfills become routine and self-service. - Collaborate with product, support, and downstream engineering to identify gaps and propose work proactively.

Requirements

- Three or more years of professional experience in data engineering or a data-heavy backend role, with production ownership of pipelines that others depend on. - Strong SQL skills, including the ability to reason about the performance of non-trivial analytical queries. - Hands-on experience building and operating data pipelines with an orchestration framework, ideally Dagster or Airflow, or equivalent experience with Prefect, dbt, or comparable tools. - Strong Python or another language used fluently for data work. - Experience with a cloud data warehouse or analytical store such as BigQuery, ClickHouse, Snowflake, Redshift, or similar. - Experience integrating third-party REST APIs, including handling pagination, rate limits, partial failures, late-arriving and restated data, and unreliable documentation. - A genuine instinct for data correctness and the habit of building assertions rather than assuming numbers are right. - An AI-augmented working style, with concrete examples of how AI tools have been used in an engineering workflow. - Experience developing solutions in the cloud or using cloud services. - Strong written and verbal English communication skills.

Nice to have

- Experience with cloud or SaaS billing data, including AWS, GCP, or Azure cost and usage exports, marketplace billing, or the FOCUS specification. - Familiarity with Go, used in the backend services. - Experience with systems that carry financial or audit-grade correctness requirements such as invoicing, metering, revenue reconciliation, or billing engines. - Exposure to FinOps practices or cloud financial management products. - A relevant degree or equivalent practical experience.

Benefits and work setup

- Fully remote role open to full-time employees in the UK, Ireland, Estonia, the Netherlands, Sweden, and Israel, and to contractors in Eastern Europe and Portugal. - Unlimited vacation, flexible working options, health insurance, and parental leave. - Employee stock option plan, home office allowance, professional development stipend, and a peer recognition program.
