Role overview A Staff+ Software Engineer position on the Data Infrastructure team, responsible for the systems that collect, store, and serve data across the organization. The role involves designing and scaling platforms that support analytics, machine learning, and product engineering at very large data volumes. It is offered as remote-friendly with travel expected, anchored in San Francisco, Seattle, or New York City.
Responsibilities - Architect and evolve large-scale data infrastructure such as pipelines, warehouses, and serving layers - Set technical direction across data platform components and influence engineering-wide standards - Partner with analytics, ML, and product engineering teams on platform strategy and data needs - Lead design reviews, mentor senior engineers, and raise the technical bar - Drive reliability, performance, and cost efficiency across data systems
Requirements - Extensive experience building production data infrastructure at staff or higher scope - Deep knowledge of distributed systems, batch and streaming pipelines, and storage technologies - Proficiency in languages commonly used for data engineering and platform work - Demonstrated ability to lead architectural decisions spanning multiple teams - Strong communication and collaboration skills
Nice to have - Experience supporting machine learning workloads and feature platforms - Familiarity with modern data stack tooling and cloud data services
