Role overview
A 12-month contract for a Lead QA Engineer to set the quality direction for a workforce management platform used by millions of hourly workers and hundreds of thousands of workplaces worldwide. The role blends strategy, hands-on automation architecture, and cross-team leadership, with explicit expectations to apply AI-driven thinking and tooling across day-to-day work.
Responsibilities
- Define and own the organization's quality assurance strategy and roadmap, aligning it with product and business goals. - Architect and build scalable, maintainable test automation frameworks covering functional, regression, and performance scenarios. - Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and evaluate testing tools, building reusable dashboards and self-serve assets for product teams. - Triage issues found during testing, report on coverage and strategy effectiveness, and drive continuous improvement. - Act as a quality subject matter expert, mentoring QA engineers and partnering with Product, Engineering, and Operations stakeholders. - Champion AI-enabled quality practices where they meaningfully improve speed, coverage, or defect detection.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; a master's degree is a plus. - 6+ years of QA experience including 2+ years as a Senior QA Engineer, with a track record in test automation for complex software. - Proficiency in PHP, JavaScript, or Go, plus experience with modern test automation tools and frameworks. - Cloud certification and hands-on experience with AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure in large-scale environments. - Practical experience with agile delivery and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or Travis CI. - Strong knowledge of SQL, databases, and API testing using OpenAPI, Swagger, or gRPC, combined with excellent cross-team communication skills.
Nice to have
- Prior experience building or operating self-serve quality platforms and reusable automation libraries. - Familiarity with embedding AI agents or AI-assisted testing into engineering workflows.
