Role overview
A hands-on mid-level verification engineering role focused on validating next-generation, high-performance RISC-V CPU cores. The position works closely with CPU architects, RTL designers, and software engineers to develop verification strategies, build robust test environments, and uncover the corner cases that matter in modern out-of-order processors. This is a remote position based in North America or Spain, with the final level determined during the interview process based on candidate experience.
Responsibilities
- Develop verification strategies, test plans, and architectural testbenches for complex out-of-order CPU designs. - Own meaningful portions of the verification effort, from planning through closure. - Debug RTL and simulation failures, identify root causes, and drive issues to resolution. - Apply constrained-random testing, assertions, and functional coverage methodologies. - Collaborate across architecture, microarchitecture, RTL, and verification disciplines. - Partner with software engineers to validate CPU behavior end-to-end.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience in design verification for CPUs, SoCs, ASICs, or other complex digital designs. - Strong proficiency with SystemVerilog and UVM, including testbench development and coverage-driven verification. - Solid understanding of CPU architecture and microarchitecture, including pipelines, out-of-order execution, caches, load/store units, branch prediction, or instruction scheduling. - Experience debugging simulation failures using waveforms and standard debug tools. - Strong programming skills in C, C++, or Python. - Ability to work effectively with RTL designers, architects, and fellow verification engineers.
