Principal Software Engineer, (Adobe - AEM Lead)

Role overview A senior engineering role leading the technical delivery of enterprise website and platform projects built on Adobe Experience Manager. The position blends hands-on coding with client-facing technical leadership, taking workstreams from architecture through launch while partnering with architects, product owners, QA, DevOps, UX, and client engineers. It is designed for an engineer who enjoys both deep technical work and guiding the people around them.

Responsibilities - Own the technical workstream end-to-end, translating architecture and product goals into implementation plans, stories, estimates, dependencies, and risk callouts. - Build and review production-quality components, services, and integrations using Java, HTML5, JavaScript, CSS, and AEM features such as Sling Models, OSGi services, workflows, and the Universal Editor. - Set and enforce coding standards across components, responsive behavior, error handling, logging, testing, and configuration. - Lead technical workshops, code reviews, and design discussions with client engineers, product partners, and executive stakeholders. - Partner with QA and DevOps on automated testing, build gates, security, accessibility, performance, observability, and deployment readiness. - Define API contracts and integration behavior across AEM and external systems, including authentication, retries, timeouts, and failure handling. - Mentor engineers, support release readiness from development through hypercare, and capture reusable patterns to improve future delivery.

Requirements - 7+ years of professional software engineering experience leading technical delivery for engineering teams. - Proven experience delivering production websites or digital platforms on Adobe Experience Manager, including hands-on design and support work. - Strong full-stack depth in Java plus HTML5, JavaScript, and CSS, with the ability to guide component architecture. - Demonstrated consulting and leadership skills, with clear communication of technical tradeoffs to engineers, product partners, and client stakeholders. - Hands-on experience using generative AI productivity tools in a development workflow, with judgment about where AI adds real value. - Track record of full-stack leadership across CMS website projects, partnering with a specialist architect for deep architecture ownership.

Nice to have - Experience integrating AEM with external systems, designing maintainable APIs, and improving delivery processes through reusable patterns and documentation.
