Platform Engineer - Navy (FedD174/FedD175)

Role overview A federal contractor is hiring a Platform Engineer for its Navy delivery team, blending DevOps and platform application security responsibilities. The role focuses on developing and maintaining the platform, guiding other engineers, and contributing to strategic product vision. Work spans CI/CD components, runner deployments, packaging for the delivery platform, and process automation.

Responsibilities - Innovate by evaluating competing methods and selecting optimal solutions for complex technical challenges. - Solve problems across two to three knowledge domains with deep expertise in one to two technologies such as full-stack development, CI/CD, GitOps, Kubernetes, OpenTofu, AWS, or Go. - Influence strategic planning that aligns technology advancements with mission objectives. - Apply strong programming skills and deep Linux/Unix familiarity to deliver secure, reliable platform capabilities. - Implement infrastructure as code and build or maintain Kubernetes clusters across distributions including EKS and RKE2. - Build relationships with external teams and collaborate across platform teams while applying secure coding and vulnerability remediation practices.

Requirements - Expertise solving technical problems spanning multiple knowledge domains. - Deep proficiency in one to two key technologies such as full-stack development, GitOps, Kubernetes, OpenTofu, AWS, or Go. - Experience with YAML for Kubernetes manifests, CRDs, and pipeline configurations. - Proficiency in security automation, API security, container security, and cloud security. - Experience with continuous delivery, distributed architectures, everything-as-code, containerization, and cloud services. - Active or eligibility-for Secret clearance and DoD 8570 IAT II certification, with Department of Defense experience supporting a production ATO system.

Nice to have - Experience with UDS Core, Iron Bank, and C-ATO processes. - Ability to mentor and grow junior engineers through pairing and code reviews. - Experience identifying process gaps and iterating toward better ways of working, including comfortable team leadership.
