About this role
Role overview A cloud engineering role driving large-scale workload migrations to Google Cloud for federal clients. The work centers on architecting, building, and deploying secure, scalable, and resilient cloud infrastructure that supports mission-critical workloads. It is well suited to an engineer who combines hands-on platform expertise with a working knowledge of federal security and compliance requirements.
Responsibilities - Design, deploy, and manage GCP foundational services such as BigQuery, Secret Manager, Vertex AI, VPCs, Cloud Storage, and Cloud IAM. - Execute large-scale data and workload migrations using GCP best practices and tools such as Migrate for Compute Engine. - Implement secure cloud architectures aligned with federal cloud computing security requirements and Zero Trust principles. - Monitor cloud infrastructure performance, troubleshoot migration issues, and optimize cost across environments. - Apply Infrastructure as Code practices, preferably with Terraform, alongside CI/CD pipelines to automate deployments. - Use containerization and orchestration with Docker and Kubernetes or GKE to support resilient workloads.
Requirements - Three to five or more years of cloud engineering experience, with at least two years of hands-on work on Google Cloud Platform. - Proven experience executing cloud migrations including lift-and-shift, re-platforming, or refactoring patterns. - Strong proficiency with Infrastructure as Code, Terraform preferred, and CI/CD pipelines. - Experience with containerization and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes or GKE.
Nice to have - Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect or Professional Cloud Security Engineer certification. - Prior experience on federal or Department of Defense cloud migration projects.
