About this role
Role overview Research new ways to detect AI-generated and manipulated media, then help move promising methods toward production. The work bridges experimentation and applied engineering, using generative and discriminative models to assess what can be detected and how reliably.
Responsibilities - Develop and investigate methods for identifying generated or manipulated media. - Design experiments to evaluate model performance across varied datasets. - Track advances in generative AI and assess their implications for detection. - Share research findings and contribute to the wider research community where appropriate. - Collaborate with engineers to bring research prototypes into production systems.
Requirements - A master’s or doctoral degree in computer science, machine learning, or a related area, or equivalent experience. - Research publications or other demonstrated impact in computer vision, generative models, or media forensics. - Experience using PyTorch or JAX to train and evaluate large models. - Ability to work independently, set research direction, and communicate findings clearly. - Interest in the societal effects of synthetic media.
Benefits and work setup - Full-time role, remote within the US or based in San Francisco.
