Senior Software Engineer, Backend

Role overview A senior backend engineering role on a Risk team building event-driven decisioning systems for a consumer financial platform. The work centers on real-time and asynchronous risk analytics, identity and behavior validation, and auditable workflows that need to operate quickly and resiliently at scale.

Responsibilities - Design and build backend services in TypeScript for real-time and asynchronous risk decisioning - Develop and maintain event-driven workflows using queues, pub/sub, and cloud task infrastructure - Design and implement state machines that model multi-step decisioning and verification flows - Collaborate with product, operations, and infrastructure teams to build and scale backend services - Own end-to-end delivery of small to medium-sized projects from design through production - Provide technical leadership, contribute to code reviews, and mentor other engineers

Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience - 5+ years of software development experience - Hands-on experience with event-driven architecture such as message queues or pub/sub - Experience with cloud task or job scheduling systems such as Cloud Tasks, SQS, Celery, or equivalents - Experience designing or implementing state machines for multi-step workflows - Proficiency in TypeScript or JavaScript on Node.js, or comparable experience in Java, Python, C/C++, or Go - Experience with MySQL and Google Cloud Platform - Strong communication skills and the ability to discuss system architecture and design
