Senior Test Engineer - AETC

Role overview A remote senior test engineering opportunity supporting a long-running Department of Defense sustainment program focused on training and information management systems. The role centers on designing, executing, and refining both manual and automated test efforts across an Agile development lifecycle, working closely with architects, developers, and support staff to verify defects and demonstrate capabilities to government stakeholders.

Responsibilities - Design and implement manual and automated test cases, including staging the supporting test data. - Review and analyze test results to confirm expected outcomes and surface regressions. - Identify and document defects against team standards, then verify fixes through re-testing. - Communicate findings and triage issues with architects, software engineers, and the support team. - Contribute to adjacent phases of the development lifecycle, including local deployment of software under test. - Lead customer-facing demonstrations during Government Acceptance Testing events and stay available for occasional evening or weekend coverage.

Requirements - An active Secret-level security clearance. - Four or more years of software or test engineering experience, or a blend of two years on a development team plus two years building automated tests. - Practical experience applying formal testing methods, tools, and configuring performance or load-generation environments. - Working knowledge of Agile delivery practices, including sprint planning, estimation, prioritization, scoping, and demos. - Ability to write, modify, and execute SQL queries for test data validation and troubleshooting. - Active Security+ certification, demonstrated ticket management system experience, strong written and verbal communication, and the ability to operate independently on a distributed remote team.

Nice to have - Prior work on the G/TIMS program or familiarity with Air Force network environments. - Background in DoD system development and Agile team delivery. - An industry testing certification such as ISTQB.

Benefits and work setup - Fully remote position with a posted salary range of $90,000 to $110,000 USD, dependent on qualifications and experience. - Applicants must be U.S. citizens eligible for a security clearance, with conditional hires potentially subject to government investigation.
