Job details
About this role
Role overview Lead the development of numerical methods for a scientific and engineering simulation platform. The role spans mathematical design, C++ implementation, model-based verification, and integration across the product lifecycle, with opportunities to improve existing algorithms and explore machine learning approaches to simulation.
Responsibilities - Design and implement the equations, algorithms, and numerical solutions behind the simulation engine. - Work with engineers and product partners to turn customer and business needs into technical specifications and integrated features. - Build practical models to verify algorithm behavior, support quality assurance, and provide examples or customer assistance. - Document numerical methods and their implementation, and help formalize modeling, testing, and support practices. - Advise quality assurance and customer support on advanced modeling questions; explain technical concepts clearly to varied audiences. - Identify ways to modernize algorithmic infrastructure and apply machine learning to extend or accelerate simulation methods.
Requirements - A master’s or doctoral degree in science or engineering, with a strong academic record. - Broad applied mathematics and numerical methods experience, such as matrix algebra or solving partial differential equations. - Extensive C++ programming experience, ideally on scientific or engineering software, and a record of delivering practical numerical solutions. - Background in earth science or civil engineering; contaminant transport modeling is particularly relevant. - Strong written communication and ability to collaborate across technical and product teams.
Nice to have - Experience with numerical libraries, Windows desktop applications, or data tools such as MATLAB, R, or Tableau. - Experience applying machine learning or other AI techniques to scientific or engineering software.
Benefits and work setup - Remote-first environment, with optional access to U.S. offices; the role is described as hybrid. - Flexible time off, paid parental leave, retirement contributions, health, vision and dental coverage, a health reimbursement arrangement, bonus programs, and an employee assistance program.
