Job details
About this role
Role overview Support environment-focused technical art and optimization during a mentored, 12-week game development internship. You’ll help improve tools and pipelines for environment content, with a small project that moves from concept and prototype through implementation and polish.
Responsibilities - Build or refine tools and scripts for environment art workflows and asset performance. - Troubleshoot pipelines and integration issues between digital content creation tools and the game engine. - Assist with environment optimization and automate repetitive work to reduce content backlogs. - Document fixes and contribute to a mentored project through technical design, implementation, iteration, and polish. - Learn environment production workflows using Unreal Engine, Maya, and Python.
Requirements - Completed a college or university program in 2026 in art, animation, game development, engineering, or a related field. - Available to work 40 hours per week during core business hours from February 1 through April 23, 2027. - Able to attend the first week of onboarding onsite in California; the internship is otherwise remote and open to applicants in most U.S. states. - Authorized to work in the United States. - Submit a resume, cover letter, and portfolio or GitHub link.
Nice to have - Environment art, modular asset workflows, set dressing, or environment optimization examples. - Maya or Unreal tools, scripts, or workflows that improve environment performance or production efficiency. - Personal projects, game jams, or group work beyond coursework; exposure to development tools and engines. - Openness to feedback, learning new workflows, and communicating ideas clearly.
Benefits and work setup - Location-based pay of $21–$24 per hour. - Interns are eligible for medical, dental, and vision benefits. - Remote internship with a required first week onsite for onboarding; includes mentorship and hands-on work on active projects.
