Java Developer

Role overview A healthcare-focused SaaS company serving payer customers with payment integrity and fraud, waste, and abuse analytics is hiring a Java engineer for maintenance and support work on a mature platform. The role keeps two customer-facing products healthy through bug fixes, refactors, and contracted feature delivery rather than greenfield development. Expect to be one of the first engineers on a newly formed onshore team consolidating maintenance into a single shared code base.

Responsibilities - Triage and resolve bugs and support requests across both products, working from a unified code base rather than customer-specific branches. - Deliver contracted feature work and module refactors, including performance tuning for legacy integrations. - Partner with security operations on deployments, customer environment setups, and upgrades. - Address security findings and vulnerability remediations within contractual windows. - Write SQL queries, work with data structures, and migrate data between customer environments. - Participate in code review, both as an author and reviewer, and stay calm when a customer environment is down or a patch is urgent.

Requirements - At least 5 years of hands-on software engineering experience, including production Java. - Object-oriented Java in a deployed enterprise application, including J2EE-era patterns. - Hands-on work with REST APIs and single-page applications, both built and consumed. - SQL fluency for queries, data structures, and cross-environment migrations. - Background with enterprise or SaaS products deployed to multiple external customers. - Comfort in a code-review-gated environment with enforced team standards and direct feedback. - Authorized to work in the United States and available during US business hours.

Nice to have - Tomcat or comparable application server configuration experience. - Front-end capability with a modern framework plus TypeScript or JavaScript (Angular). - Azure environment setup and deployment, Snowflake familiarity. - CVE and security patch management experience. - Comfort with AI-assisted development tools.
