About this role
Role overview A backend engineering role within a Repayments organization, focused on building the next-generation platform that powers collections for a consumer lending product. The position centers on managing delinquent loans at scale, partnering with product, risk, and analytics teams, and keeping systems reliable as volume grows.
Responsibilities - Break larger initiatives into phases and deliver tasks in close coordination with the team’s tech lead and manager. - Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics during ideation, articulating technical constraints and weighing trade-offs. - Operate and protect the team’s services through metrics, monitoring, escalation, on-call duties, and ongoing reliability work. - Translate ambiguous problems into solutions that span multiple services, writing clear, well-tested, extensible code. - Navigate a large codebase, debug others’ code, and provide constructive feedback through code review. - Contribute to team growth through interview participation and community-building activities.
Requirements - At least 2.5 years of professional software engineering experience. - Hands-on background designing, developing, and launching backend systems, with proficiency in Python or Kotlin. - Familiarity with distributed systems building blocks and technologies such as AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes. - Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with a global engineering team. - A track record of proactively seeking feedback and taking ownership of professional growth.
Nice to have - Experience with consumer lending, repayments, collections, or related financial workflows.
