Backend Tech Lead — Product Infrastructure

Role overview Lead a small product infrastructure team while staying hands on with architecture and engineering. The work connects incoming data collection to production applications, with a focus on scaling services, improving database performance, and evolving ingestion toward real time processing.

Responsibilities - Lead, mentor, and support a team of 3–5 engineers; guide planning, delivery, and technical development. - Drive migration from scheduled batch processing to high throughput, real time data streams. - Scale infrastructure and improve PostgreSQL performance, data consistency, and operation under high concurrency. - Work with product engineering to develop automated content moderation and integrate ML models into data workflows. - Use observability tools to investigate incidents, improve performance, and resolve production issues. - Align technical roadmaps and delivery plans with product managers, engineering leaders, and partner teams.

Requirements - Experience leading engineers or projects, with the ability to manage and develop a small team. - A track record building, scaling, and monitoring production backend or infrastructure systems. - Strong programming experience and willingness to work primarily in Python; experience in other established languages is also relevant. - Deep PostgreSQL experience, including data modeling, query and index tuning, and high concurrency performance. - Practical Kubernetes experience and hands on AWS knowledge. - Clear communication skills for working across engineering and business teams.

Nice to have - Experience moving legacy batch systems to real time streaming pipelines. - Familiarity with integrating AI or ML models into production data workflows.
