About this role
Role overview A security engineering position focused on designing, implementing, and continuously improving data protection controls across an enterprise. The role sits within a Security Engineering team and acts as the bridge between governance, compliance, and privacy policies and the technical controls that enforce them. Work spans both project-based deployments of new capabilities and ongoing operational support for existing data protection technologies.
Responsibilities - Design, configure, and maintain enterprise data protection technologies covering endpoints, email, cloud, networks, collaboration platforms, and AI-enabled systems. - Translate regulatory, contractual, and business requirements from Compliance, Privacy, Legal, and Governance teams into technical controls, detection logic, and enforcement mechanisms. - Build and tune DLP and information protection policies that align with approved governance objectives. - Administer enterprise data security platforms, troubleshoot issues, and partner with Security Operations to improve detection and visibility. - Evaluate emerging data security technologies and recommend solutions that strengthen the overall security posture. - Analyze control effectiveness, identify automation opportunities, and contribute to metrics, reporting, and program maturity initiatives.
Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Information Security, Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience. - 3-5 years of experience in Data Security Engineering, Information Protection, DLP Engineering, or a related security discipline. - Hands-on experience implementing and administering enterprise data protection technologies across endpoint, email, cloud, network, and SaaS environments. - Experience with Microsoft Purview Information Protection and Data Loss Prevention. - Understanding of data classification, information governance, privacy, and data protection principles. - Strong troubleshooting, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities across cross-functional teams.
Nice to have - Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, or SOX. - Experience with Insider Risk Management programs and AI governance or AI security controls. - Scripting ability with PowerShell or Python, plus certifications such as SC-400, CISSP, Security+, SC-300, or AZ-500.
