DevOps Engineer (Digital Engineering)

Role overview

The role centers on operating and evolving a production Azure platform that powers a customer and program management system for a large financial services business with a nationwide agent network. The engineer will shape infrastructure-as-code, automated delivery, and observability practices to keep application and data services secure, reliable, and continuously deployable.

Responsibilities

- Design, provision, and maintain modular, reusable, version-controlled Azure infrastructure using Terraform. - Build and optimize YAML-based Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines covering infrastructure, application, containerized, and data workloads. - Implement GitOps deployment workflows with Argo CD targeting Azure Kubernetes Service clusters. - Embed DevSecOps practices into pipelines, including SonarQube quality gates, vulnerability scanning, secrets handling, and compliance validation. - Administer Azure services such as VNets, Load Balancers, App Services, Key Vault, Storage Accounts, and Azure AD with RBAC and governance discipline. - Configure Azure Monitor, Application Insights, and Log Analytics; troubleshoot build, deployment, and runtime performance issues. - Manage Azure Databricks workspaces, clusters, access controls, and Unity Catalog configurations, automating deployments through Terraform and CI/CD. - Partner with architecture, data engineering, and security teams, maintain runbooks, and mentor junior engineers on DevOps standards.

Requirements

- Five or more years in Azure DevOps, cloud automation, or equivalent roles. - Hands-on Terraform expertise including modules, workspaces, backends, and state management. - Proven experience building and maintaining YAML Azure DevOps pipelines. - Practical experience with Argo CD and GitOps deployments to AKS. - Solid Azure administration skills spanning RBAC, networking, storage, and cost governance. - Experience managing Databricks workspaces and clusters. - SonarQube integration experience within CI/CD pipelines. - Working knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm. - Scripting proficiency in PowerShell, Bash, or Python. - Strong problem-solving ability, independent work style, and cross-team collaboration skills. - Upper-Intermediate (B2) English or higher. - Availability for a primary support shift of 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM CST, with occasional 9:00 AM CST meetings for team overlap.

Nice to have

- Certifications such as Microsoft Azure DevOps Engineer, Azure Administrator Associate, HashiCorp Terraform Associate, or Certified Kubernetes Administrator. - Familiarity with Azure Bicep, ARM Templates, or Ansible. - Exposure to Azure Data Factory and Azure Synapse CI/CD automation.
