About this role
Role overview A player-coach leadership role directing a team of eight Solution Architects within a Platform-as-a-Service delivery organization serving complex healthcare clients. The position sets the bar for how enterprise solution design is approached on mission-critical systems such as claims and utilization management platforms, while still remaining hands-on with architecture and client engagement.
Responsibilities - Hire, coach, and develop a team of eight Solution Architects, owning performance management and career growth - Establish and uphold standards for solution design quality, including how architects guide clients to existing capabilities, author business and functional requirements, and model future-state workflows - Champion a customer-first culture that says yes where feasible and pushes back constructively when not - Serve as the escalation point for contested designs, technically infeasible approaches, or conflicts with commercial commitments - Balance workload and account assignments across the team as new implementations ramp up - Partner with Solution Owners, Forward Deployed Engineers, Platform Configuration, QA, and Technical Program Managers to keep design aligned with delivery timelines - Represent the architecture function in cross-functional planning and with client executive stakeholders on complex accounts - Build repeatable training materials, templates, and playbooks so quality does not depend on any single architect
Requirements - 12+ years in solution architecture, technical consulting, or similar client-facing technical roles with significant healthcare experience - 3+ years directly managing a technical team such as solution architects, FDEs, or technical consultants - Familiarity with large, complex enterprise platforms including claims systems or utilization and care management platforms - Demonstrated ability to lead and make decisions in ambiguous, fast-changing environments without waiting for perfect information - Deep experience with payer operations, utilization management, or prior authorization specifically - Strong technical judgment paired with hands-on people leadership, comfortable going deep technically and coaching a direct report in the same week
Nice to have - Background scaling a technical team through rapid company growth - Experience presenting to and influencing client executive stakeholders
Benefits and work setup - Fully remote with approximately 10% travel; potential on-site onboarding and team meetings in Boston, MA - Medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance plus an Employee Assistance Program - 401(k) with company match, plus flexible spending and health savings accounts - Flexible time off plus company holidays, and up to 14 weeks of paid parental leave - Pet insurance - Salary range of $196,000 to $215,000 annually as part of a total package that may include bonus and benefits
