About this role
Role overview
This is a hands-on engineering leadership role guiding a team that builds the systems powering an agentic development experience. The position blends people leadership with deep technical work, shaping the architecture that makes coding agents more capable, reliable, and useful across real development environments. Expect to set direction, contribute code, and partner closely with Product and Design as the underlying model landscape continues to evolve.
Responsibilities
- Lead, grow, and coach engineers within the Workspaces organization, maintaining a high execution bar. - Set technical direction across the agent harness, integrations, and developer workflows. - Contribute to architecture and implementation decisions, staying close to the code. - Advance agent execution, tool use, context management, streaming, and long-running workflows. - Extend a provider-agnostic architecture so the system adapts as models change. - Partner with Product and Design to translate agent capabilities into useful developer experiences. - Improve reliability, performance, and operability across the agentic systems.
Requirements
- Track record managing and growing software engineering teams. - Strong hands-on experience with React and TypeScript. - Experience with Go for backend development. - Hands-on experience building systems around LLMs and agentic workflows. - Familiarity with model APIs, tool calling, context management, or agent loops. - Solid distributed systems knowledge and working knowledge of AWS. - Strong technical judgment and comfort navigating ambiguity.
Nice to have
- Experience building coding agents, developer tools, or cloud development environments. - Familiarity with MCP, agent tools, or multi-agent systems. - Experience with remote execution, sandboxing, or isolated compute. - Experience designing abstractions across multiple model providers. - Deeper experience with AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, or Linux. - Open-source contributions or direct customer-facing engineering experience.
Benefits and work setup
The tech stack centers on Go and Postgres on the backend, TypeScript and React on the frontend, with AWS and Kubernetes for infrastructure, Prometheus and Grafana for observability, and GitHub Actions for CI/CD. The interview process is described as transparent and consistent, typically running two to four weeks and involving conversations with managers, individual contributors, and senior leaders. AI assistance is not permitted during conversational interviews, while AI tooling is permitted for take-home assessments when disclosed honestly. Hiring decisions are made by humans, with AI tools used only to assist with application review and interview notes.
