Kubernetes Operator Engineer (Go and DevOps)
Job details
About this role
Role overview Split your time between running production Kubernetes environments and developing Go software that automates their operation. You will build and maintain customer clusters and managed services, then turn operational lessons into operators and controllers that make future deployments more reliable and less manual.
Responsibilities - Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain Kubernetes clusters and add-ons in self-hosted and bare-metal environments. - Operate and scale customer services, including databases, observability systems, and GitOps delivery tooling. - Support migrations from cloud platforms and VMware, planning for minimal downtime and tested rollback. - Improve platform performance, security, and reliability, and capture repeatable work in reusable templates. - Build Kubernetes operators, controllers, and admission webhooks in Go using controller-runtime or a similar framework. - Develop safe, observable reconciliation workflows; own testing, CI/CD, releases, documentation, and examples for the components you build. - Work with customers to translate requirements into platform changes.
Requirements - At least 2 years of hands-on Kubernetes experience, including cluster management, API machinery, CRDs, RBAC, networking, and storage. - At least 2 years of Go development in a professional role or substantial open-source work. - Experience building operators or controllers with controller-runtime or an equivalent framework. - Production operations experience with monitoring, alerting, troubleshooting, and incident response. - Familiarity with GitOps, disciplined Git workflows, and code review.
Nice to have A current CKA certification; experience with PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, or other stateful Kubernetes workloads; Helm, Argo CD, Flux, Cilium, CNI internals, or eBPF; and security engineering knowledge, including GDPR or ISO 27001 expectations.
Benefits and work setup Remote-first within EU time zones, with flexible hours. The role offers training, growth, and opportunities to contribute open-source components used in production. Compensation is described as competitive and based on skills and experience. The team favors declarative Kubernetes practices, clear communication, practical trade-offs, and close customer feedback.
