Role overview A senior Product Owner role leading product strategy and delivery for a national security software platform serving defense and intelligence community sponsors. The position bridges government stakeholders, engineering teams, and end users to ensure high-quality capabilities that turn operational data into actionable intelligence. It calls for someone who can balance long-range strategic vision with hands-on backlog ownership in a mission-driven environment.
Responsibilities - Define and articulate the long-term product vision, strategy, and outcome-driven roadmap aligned with mission priorities - Maintain and prioritize the product backlog so the highest-value work is always sequenced next - Write clear user stories with acceptance criteria and document detailed operational requirements - Facilitate meetings and tailor verbal and written messaging for senior executive and technical audiences - Make informed decisions on features, scope, and priorities using stakeholder input, market signals, and team feedback - Champion user-centered design and serve as the bridge between sponsors and the development team
Requirements - Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Business, Computer Science, or Engineering - At least 10 years of experience as a product owner - Strong working knowledge of Agile development methodologies - Solid grasp of Lean Product Management principles - Demonstrated success leading products from initial concept through launch - Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills - Experience with user-centered design, usability testing, and rapid iterative delivery
Nice to have - Familiarity with digital services trends and emerging technologies in U.S. space or defense domains - Background shaping product decisions through user research, customer development, and iterative feedback loops - Hands-on involvement in the design or development of full-service applications
Benefits and work setup - Salary range: $109,000 – $267,000 - Equal opportunity employer
