Job details
About this role
Role overview
A Staff DevOps Engineer position operating remotely to lead platform engineering, cloud FinOps, and production reliability for a multi-country fintech infrastructure running on AWS across Mexico, Colombia, and Brazil. The role sits at the intersection of Internal Developer Platform (IDP) ownership, Kubernetes operations, event-driven architecture support, and applied-AI automation for incident response, with significant influence on security, compliance, and engineering cost strategy.
Responsibilities
- Drive the design and continuous evolution of the Internal Developer Platform, standardizing CI/CD pipelines to improve deployment frequency and reduce cycle time. - Build and execute a FinOps strategy across AWS, identifying cost-optimization opportunities while preserving reliability for production workloads. - Operate and scale the Kubernetes platform on Amazon EKS, including networking, cluster scaling, and workload troubleshooting for multi-country production traffic. - Support and troubleshoot the Kafka / Amazon MSK event-driven architecture that powers async processing, notifications, and cross-service communication across microservices. - Develop and integrate applied-AI solutions, including MCP-based tooling, to automate log analysis and accelerate root cause analysis during incidents. - Implement least-privilege IAM for human and non-human identities, strengthen the SSDLC through container standardization, and lead technical compliance work for ISO 27001, regional fintech regulations, and enterprise audits. - Design multi-account, multi-region backup and recovery, define infrastructure-as-code patterns, and participate in on-call rotations improving MTTD/MTTR through observability tooling such as Datadog.
Requirements
- 5+ years in DevOps, Platform Engineering, or SRE roles, ideally within fintech or other regulated environments, plus a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. - Deep hands-on experience with multi-account, multi-region AWS (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, IAM) and production Kubernetes on Amazon EKS. - Production experience with Apache Kafka / Amazon MSK covering topic design, consumer group management, and performance tuning. - Demonstrated work building or scaling an Internal Developer Platform, standardizing CI/CD (GitHub Actions or self-hosted runners), and using DORA metrics to drive improvement. - Practical cloud security knowledge spanning least-privilege access, SSDLC, and compliance frameworks such as ISO 27001 or PCI-DSS, combined with infrastructure-as-code experience. - Working knowledge of Java/Spring Boot microservices, PostgreSQL/MySQL/Redis, and applied-AI techniques for operational tasks is a plus.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with applying LLMs or agents to operational work such as automated log analysis and MCP integrations. - Native Spanish with intermediate-to-advanced English communication skills.
Benefits and work setup
- Remote-first with periodic in-person team ramps, events, and customer visits. - Competitive salary, stock options (ESOP) from day one, and an annual learning budget.
