About this role
Role overview A healthcare-focused technology company is hiring a Data Engineer to own the pipelines, models, and warehouse foundations that power analytics and AI-driven products. The role is a high-leverage individual contributor position with end-to-end responsibility for ingestion, transformation, orchestration, and quality, partnering closely with Product, Engineering, Analytics, and go-to-market teams. Success is measured by trusted data, fast incident recovery, and a platform that scales through automation rather than headcount.
Responsibilities - Design, build, and operate ingestion, transformation, orchestration, and serving layers (dashboards, reverse ETL, agent tooling) across a cloud warehouse. - Build reliable pipelines from product events, CRM, marketing, finance, and support systems, with clear contracts, retries, and observability. - Ship reusable, tested data models and metrics, and run data quality as an operations discipline (tests, anomaly detection, lineage, SLAs, incident response). - Partner with Engineering on event tracking, instrumentation plans, data contracts, and PII/access governance with documentation people actually use. - Build and maintain an AI-agent layer for health monitoring, failed-job summaries, cost/performance flags, draft models and tests, schema-change alerts, and weekly health reports. - Run platform rituals: reviews, retrospectives, SLA reporting, and prioritization across product, analytics, and go-to-market partners.
Requirements - 5+ years of hands-on experience building production data pipelines and warehouse models. - Strong SQL skills and experience with a modern cloud warehouse and dbt-style transformation frameworks. - Proficiency with an orchestrator such as Airflow, Dagster, or Prefect, plus Python for automation. - A systems mindset with demonstrated ability to design for observability, testing, incident response, and cost control. - Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and a bias toward documenting and automating rather than managing people.
Nice to have - Experience building or operating AI-agent-based tooling for data platform monitoring and remediation. - Background in healthcare data, PHI/PII handling, or regulated analytics environments.
Benefits and work setup - Remote-first team with a monthly reimbursement for work-from-home expenses. - Health, vision, and dental coverage starting day one, plus HSA/FSA options, disability, life and accident insurance, an Employee Assistance Program, adoption assistance, and a monthly wellness stipend. - 401(k) with company match available after three months. - Discretionary paid time off, 13 paid holidays, and competitive paid parental leave with a flexible return-to-work policy. - Employee referral bonuses, peer-recognition programs, employee resource groups, and ongoing learning through webinars and structured onboarding. - New-hire hardware provided.
