About this role
Role overview A senior engineering team is hiring a Senior Data Engineer to design and deliver the data and AI infrastructure behind an enterprise agentic AI platform. The role is embedded with a large enterprise client alongside an external cloud professional services group, scaling an observability data platform from an early single-agent pilot into a fully automated, end-to-end operations model. It is a hands-on position for someone who can own features end-to-end, contribute to architectural decisions, and bring strong technical judgment to production systems where reliability, security, and scalability matter.
Responsibilities - Design, build, and deploy data and AI/ML systems on AWS, including data lake pipelines, observability instrumentation, and performance, reliability, and cost optimization. - Maintain and evolve production platforms by monitoring for drift, debugging issues, and driving continuous improvements. - Use AI-assisted development tools as part of the daily workflow to ship higher-quality work at pace. - Partner with client engineering and data teams to align work with broader platform and business goals. - Translate technical tradeoffs and system constraints into language non-specialists can act on. - Contribute to data and AI architecture decisions, participate in code reviews and design discussions, and raise the bar on engineering practices.
Requirements - 5+ years of professional software or data engineering experience, including 2+ years building data platforms or AI/ML systems in production on AWS. - Strong software engineering background with Python and SQL (or similar languages). - An active AWS certification. - Experience maintaining production AI/ML systems with attention to reliability, security, and cost. - Solid grasp of data engineering fundamentals such as data modeling, pipelines, and orchestration. - Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code, observability tooling, and modern software development practices.
Nice to have - Open-source contributions or deep familiarity with the OpenTelemetry ecosystem.
Benefits and work setup - US-based remote position. - Salary range of $119,514 to $164,899 USD, with the actual offer based on experience, skills, and location. - Comprehensive benefits package including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, and a 401(k) plan for eligible employees. - Employment offer may be conditional on successful completion of a background check.
