About this role
Role overview Lead a cross-functional software team of 4–6 engineers, blending hands-on coding with people leadership. The position balances day-to-day development of core product components with coaching, hiring, and shaping a healthy, autonomous team culture within a remote-first engineering organisation.
Responsibilities - Guide a small team through technical direction, code reviews, and delivery of high-quality software across several core product areas. - Run regular one-to-ones, structured feedback sessions, and career-development conversations for each engineer. - Switch between coach, motivator, and sparring-partner roles depending on what the team needs in the moment. - Hire new team members and align capacity and skill needs with the engineering manager. - Strengthen team culture through events, bonding initiatives, and inclusive practices.
Requirements - 5+ years of hands-on software development experience, primarily in Python; familiarity with C++ or Rust is a plus. - Prior experience leading or managing an engineering team, including hiring, feedback, and on-time delivery of quality code. - University degree in computer science, engineering, or a comparable field. - Comfortable remaining hands-on with code while also driving broader team impact. - Product-oriented mindset with strong written communication skills suited to asynchronous, remote work. - Fluent in English; German fluency is a strong plus.
