About this role
Role overview
A fintech platform that provides payroll infrastructure to partner businesses is hiring a Risk Analyst to safeguard company reviews, payroll monitoring, and fraud response workflows. The role blends investigation, data analysis, and cross-functional collaboration, helping thousands of partner companies operate safely. It suits someone who enjoys pattern-spotting, navigating ambiguity, and continuously improving risk systems.
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end execution of company reviews, payroll monitoring, and related risk processes with clear written and verbal communication across internal teams, partners, and customers - Analyze data to surface and act on emerging risk signals tied to specific companies and payrolls - Investigate and mitigate fraud incidents such as account takeover, first-party fraud, and impersonation, then document findings and drive resolutions with cross-functional partners - Contribute to internal documentation, case notes, and feedback loops that refine risk processes over time - Support ad hoc analyses and small process-improvement projects alongside senior team members
Requirements
- 1-3 years of experience in risk and fraud investigation or a comparable fintech analytics role - Detail-oriented working style with the ability to manage multiple investigations from start to finish - Strong time management and comfort handling several cases simultaneously - Clear, professional communication with both internal stakeholders and external parties - Experience in a fast-paced, data-driven environment, ideally working from a busy case queue - Sound judgment under ambiguity, including knowing when to escalate versus resolve independently
Nice to have
- An AI-adopter mindset, comfortable iterating with AI tools and critically evaluating their outputs - Curiosity and willingness to learn new tools; SQL experience is a plus but not required - Ability to attend an annual three-day company offsite in the spring
Benefits and work setup
- Distributed team across the US; roles can be remote, hybrid, or based out of offices in New York City or San Francisco - Regular team offsites, events, and hackathons throughout the year, plus an annual three-day spring retreat - For in-office and hybrid employees: offices open all week, meals provided on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and recurring happy hours, game nights, and other in-person gatherings - Remote employees must be able to perform responsibilities without distraction or disruption while maintaining quality and productivity
