Senior Software Engineer (Athena)

Role overview A senior backend engineering role on the team building an internal clearing house that processes vulnerability reports from enterprise customers, validates and deduplicates findings, and routes clean signals to a remediation engine. The work focuses on Go services running on GCP, Terraform-managed infrastructure, and the agentic workflows that automate multi-step tasks across production systems. Open to remote candidates based in the US, Canada, or UK.

Responsibilities - Build and maintain core clearing house components in Go on GCP, including customer onboarding flows, entitlement logic, and data ingestion pipelines - Take ownership of ambiguous problems and specific subsystems, driving them from design through production with appropriate testing and observability - Implement scalable architectural patterns in collaboration with staff and principal engineers - Write backend systems that ingest unstructured enterprise data and emit structured, validated outputs - Design and operate reliable agentic workflows that automate complex multi-step tasks across production services - Participate in on-call rotation, contribute to incident response, and lead postmortems - Become a go-to owner for one or more core subsystems across multi-month initiatives - Review code, give direct feedback, and raise the team's engineering bar - Contribute infrastructure-as-code and operational tooling using Terraform and GCP-native services

Requirements - Solid backend engineering foundation with a track record of shipping and maintaining production systems - Strong Go skills plus hands-on GCP and Terraform experience - Methodical, analytical approach to unstructured data problems such as parsing, validating, and deduplicating - Background in teams that prioritize operational excellence, including monitoring, alerting, and graceful degradation - Ability to scope and drive features independently with minimal oversight - Experience designing or operating agentic AI workflows - Working knowledge of security or infrastructure domains

Nice to have - Experience building customer-facing APIs or workflow systems - Familiarity with the security vulnerability domain, coordinated disclosure processes, or CVE publication
