Manager, IT Systems Engineering

Role overview

A people-management role leading IT systems engineering for an organization running distributed clinical research sites and supporting remote teams. The position owns enterprise networking, cloud and endpoint services, technology project delivery, operational automation, and team development, with a strong emphasis on reliability, security, and operational excellence. The role is remote within the United States with minimal national travel required.

Responsibilities

- Design, implement, and manage switching, wireless, firewalls, SD-WAN, VPN, and LAN/WAN connectivity across distributed sites, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and new-site deployments - Manage and continuously improve core IT enterprise solutions including Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive - Lead device provisioning and lifecycle management using Microsoft Intune and JAMF for corporate, remote, and clinical users - Identify, design, and implement automation solutions leveraging AI technologies to streamline IT operations and improve service delivery - Serve as technical lead for infrastructure, network, cloud, and clinical-site expansion projects from planning through operational handoff - Recruit, coach, develop, and retain IT professionals while fostering a customer-focused, collaborative culture - Partner with Information Security, Privacy, Compliance, and Legal teams on audits, access reviews, and vulnerability remediation

Requirements

- Seven or more years of progressive experience in IT infrastructure, networking, operations, or service delivery, including at least three years leading technical teams - Five or more years of experience in an IT management or technical leadership role - Demonstrated experience supporting geographically distributed environments and managing enterprise networks, Microsoft cloud services, and endpoint platforms
