Role overview A senior consultant position focused on implementing and maintaining SAP Finance and Public Sector Financials solutions for federal clients. The role blends functional consulting with hands-on configuration, business process design, and collaboration across architects, developers, and business analysts to deliver solutions that meet federal budgetary requirements.
Responsibilities - Lead requirements-gathering sessions with federal client stakeholders and translate needs into SAP Finance solution designs - Configure SAP Funds Management, including budget structures across fund, funds center, and commitment item levels, and support budget availability controls - Maintain and configure General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Asset Accounting processes within SAP - Partner with technical teams (BASIS, Middleware, Portal) and developers to validate that functional requirements are met by technical solutions - Prepare functional specifications, configuration documentation, end-user training materials, and execute test plans through defect closure - Coordinate business analysis activities across project teams while adhering to quality assurance and information security standards
Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent experience - 1-3 years of relevant experience with a bachelor's degree (or 3-5 years without), including a minimum of 2 years of SAP ECC Finance experience - Hands-on experience in one or more SAP Finance domains such as General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Asset Accounting, or Funds Management - Working knowledge of SAP Public Sector Financials and Funds Management configuration, including building budgets across the fund/funds center/commitment item hierarchy - Demonstrated ability to write and execute test plans and document outcomes - U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain an active government clearance
Nice to have - SAP Finance or SAP S/4HANA Finance certification - Experience with SAP S/4HANA Finance or Public Sector Management on S/4HANA - Familiarity with FSCM receivables components such as Collections, Dispute, or Credit Management - Background in Grants Management or Budget Control System (BCS) - Knowledge of federal financial management standards including USSGL and GTAS reporting - Prior experience supporting DoD or federal civilian agency financial systems - Familiarity with the SAP Activate methodology
