Role overview
A contract opportunity for a Shopify Solution Architect to lead a major Shopify ecommerce and point-of-sale (POS) implementation starting mid-September 2026. The architect will work within a larger team alongside a certified Shopify Partner to deliver best-practice solutions and guide the project from discovery through launch. The engagement is based in New York City, with the team working remotely and only occasional on-site visits required.
Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of complex Shopify and Shopify Plus implementations from discovery through go-live. - Design scalable Shopify architecture that addresses inventory, fulfilment, promotions, returns, and end-to-end customer journeys. - Translate business requirements into technical specifications for customisations and platform extensions. - Architect integrations with ERP systems, Proximity, and other supporting retail tools. - Deliver global ecommerce solutions using Shopify Markets and Global-E. - Optimise performance, SEO, accessibility, and long-term maintainability across the platform.
Requirements
- Proven track record leading Shopify and Shopify Plus implementations end-to-end. - Deep expertise across Shopify ecommerce, Shopify POS, and omnichannel retail capabilities. - Familiarity with integrations involving ERP platforms, preferably BlueCherry, and tools such as Proximity. - Experience delivering global ecommerce solutions using Shopify Markets and Global-E. - Strong understanding of Shopify best practices, platform limitations, extensibility, and roadmap considerations. - Ability to optimise for performance, SEO, accessibility, and maintainability.
Nice to have
- Background in apparel, luxury, or premium retail, including high-touch selling models and personalised customer experiences such as clientele programmes.
