Role overview A remote Staff/Senior Accountant position supports a cloud-based learning platform that delivers certification, credentialing, and continuing education content to millions of learners. Reporting to the Controller, the role is responsible for accurate financial records, analytical reporting, and compliance across the accounting cycle. It blends operational accounting with budgeting, forecasting, and audit support for a high-growth organization.

Responsibilities - Lead the daily accounting function, including reconciliations, journal entries, AR, AP, and billing. - Review expenditures to confirm appropriate departmental allocation and provide reporting to budget owners. - Verify that accounting treatment and revenue recognition align with GAAP and company policies. - Maintain the general ledger and post monthly, quarterly, and annual accruals. - Contribute to financial statement preparation and budget variance analysis. - Build year-end schedules for tax filings and recommend process improvements across the accounting team.

Requirements - Bachelor's degree in accounting; CPA preferred. - 3-5 years (Staff) or 5-8 years (Senior) of accounting or auditing experience. - Strong command of GAAP, financial statement preparation, and revenue recognition. - Clear written and verbal communication, with the ability to explain financial data across the organization. - Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple deadlines. - Advanced Excel proficiency and comfort working in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have - Public accounting experience. - Familiarity with accounting systems like NetSuite, Intacct, or QuickBooks.
