A remote Staff/Senior Accountant opportunity supporting the finance function of a cloud-based learning platform that serves training organizations, associations, and credentialing programs. The role centers on maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, and contributing to budgeting, forecasting, and audit work that informs strategic decision-making.

Responsibilities

- Manage core accounting operations including account reconciliations, journal entries, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and billing - Review company expenditures to confirm proper allocation across departments and report findings back to those teams - Ensure transaction treatment follows GAAP and internal accounting policies - Analyze billing transactions to verify correct revenue recognition - Post monthly, quarterly, and yearly accruals and help prepare balance sheets, income statements, and budget variance analyses - Prepare year-end schedules for annual tax returns and identify process improvements

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in accounting; CPA preferred - 3-5 years of accounting or auditing experience for the Staff level, or 5-8 years for the Senior level; public accounting background a plus - Thorough knowledge of financial statement preparation, GAAP, and revenue recognition - Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting systems such as NetSuite, Intacct, or QuickBooks - Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with high attention to detail - Self-starter who can multitask, meet deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced setting
