Role overview This is a fully remote accounting position embedded in the finance team of a cloud-based learning platform that powers certification, credentialing, test prep, and continuing-education programmes. Reporting to the Controller, the role safeguards the integrity of financial records and supports budgeting, forecasting, audits, and process improvements across the function.

Responsibilities - Manage day-to-day accounting work, including account reconciliations, journal entries, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and billing. - Analyse company spending, validate departmental allocations, and report results to relevant stakeholders. - Ensure transactions are recorded in accordance with GAAP and company accounting policies. - Review billing activity to confirm correct application of revenue recognition policies. - Post recurring monthly, quarterly, and yearly entries and contribute to financial statements, variance analysis, budgets, and year-end audit and tax schedules. - Identify and implement improvements to accounting workflows and controls.

Requirements - Bachelor's degree in accounting; CPA preferred. - 3-5 years at staff level or 5-8 years at senior level in accounting or auditing, with public accounting experience viewed favourably. - Strong grasp of financial statement preparation, GAAP, and revenue recognition. - Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and prior work with accounting systems such as NetSuite, Intacct, or QuickBooks. - Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication abilities, with comfort working independently and prioritising in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have - Experience supporting SaaS or subscription-based revenue models and prior involvement in system implementations or process automation.

Benefits and work setup - Remote position open to any approved location. Salary range $65,000-$85,000 based on Chicago market data, plus medical and ancillary benefits, potential annual bonus, work-from-home stipend, flexible paid time off, and a $1,200 annual professional development stipend.
