Role overview This fully remote opening sits within the accounting function of a cloud-based learning platform organization, supporting day-to-day finance operations for a growing business. The role centers on maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, analyzing data, and ensuring regulatory compliance, while contributing to budgeting, forecasting, audits, and process improvements. Reporting to the Controller, the position plays a pivotal part in financial reporting and strategic decision-making across the company.

Responsibilities - Manage core accounting workflows, including account reconciliations, journal entries, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and billing - Analyze and review company expenditures, confirm proper expense allocation across departments, and report variances as needed - Verify that transactions are recorded in line with GAAP and internal policies, and apply correct revenue recognition treatment to billing transactions - Review general ledger accounts, post monthly, quarterly, and yearly accruals, and assist in building balance sheets, income statements, and statements of changes in financial position - Support the design and preparation of budgets, perform budget variance analysis, and prepare year-end schedules for annual tax returns - Continuously identify and implement improvements to accounting processes and procedures

Requirements - Bachelor's degree in accounting; CPA preferred - 3-5 years of experience for a Staff-level candidate, or 5-8 years for a Senior-level candidate, in accounting or auditing - Thorough knowledge of financial statement preparation, GAAP, and revenue recognition - Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey financial information clearly across the organization - Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and hands-on experience with accounting systems such as NetSuite, Intacct, or QuickBooks - Detail-oriented, highly organized, deadline-driven, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
