Open Source Engineer - Python
Job details
About this role
Role overview An open-source engineering role focused on building Python SDKs that help developers observe, evaluate, and optimize how AI and LLM systems behave inside production applications. The libraries power evaluation and observability pipelines across a range of frameworks and AI providers, and the engineer owns the full lifecycle from API design through implementation, release, documentation, and ongoing community support.
Responsibilities - Design and ship elegant, idiomatic Python SDKs for an LLM evaluation and AI observability platform - Integrate with major AI providers and frameworks so the libraries drop cleanly into existing stacks - Build tooling and automation for testing, profiling, and release workflows - Write and maintain documentation that makes the libraries easy and pleasant to use - Engage with the open-source community to triage issues, answer questions, and support adoption - Collaborate with backend, platform, and product teams to keep the developer experience cohesive
Requirements - Strong proficiency in Python with attention to idiomatic style and API craftsmanship - Experience building libraries, SDKs, or developer-facing tools that ship to real users - Familiarity with AI/LLM provider APIs and the surrounding framework ecosystem - Ability to own a project end-to-end, from design and implementation through release and support - Clear written communication for documentation, code review, and community discussion
Nice to have - Prior open-source maintainership or significant open-source contributions - Background in observability, evaluation, or developer-experience tooling - Interest in performance tuning and profiling for production library code
