Technical Product Lead, AI Email App
Job details
About this role
Role overview Lead technical product decisions for an AI-powered email experience intended to make conversations and everyday workflows easier to manage with minimal prompting. Working at the intersection of user needs, machine-learning capability, and engineering constraints, you’ll shape system behavior, define how product quality is measured, and guide ongoing improvements. The role calls for hands-on technical judgment and close partnership with engineering and machine-learning teams.
Responsibilities - Set end-to-end requirements for AI capabilities, covering model behavior, system operation, and user experience. - Translate model performance, evaluation findings, and technical constraints into clear product and system choices. - Weigh quality, latency, cost, reliability, safety, and usability when prioritizing work. - Collaborate with machine-learning, backend, and client engineers on design, evaluation, and iteration. - Create and refine evaluation approaches spanning offline metrics, live experiments, and human feedback. - Establish quality standards, spot failure modes, and ensure the system responds predictably when something goes wrong.
Requirements - Strong computer science fundamentals and system design skills. - A solid understanding of modern machine learning and production AI behavior. - Significant experience owning complex, technical products end to end, including hands-on work with AI or large language model products. - Experience with model evaluation, experimentation, prompting, or AI system iteration. - Ability to turn unclear problems into measurable goals, specific requirements, and practical plans. - Technical curiosity, good judgment, and the ability to collaborate with and constructively challenge engineering teams.
Nice to have - Experience shipping AI-heavy consumer products or building products from an early stage. - Engineering experience or a highly technical product background. - Experience setting machine-learning evaluation metrics and designing user experiences for AI failure cases.
Benefits and work setup You’ll have substantial ownership in a small, hands-on team that values independent execution, close collaboration, rapid decisions, and feedback from real-world use.
