About this role
Role overview As the first Engagement Manager for New Zealand, you will lead customer engagements from early discovery through contracting, delivery, and expansion. You will connect business priorities to measurable outcomes across data platform modernization and AI adoption, coordinating local account teams with sales, solution, and delivery specialists based in other locations. The role combines market development, commercial shaping, executive engagement, and project governance.
Responsibilities - Qualify opportunities with account teams and engage customer executives to identify priority business problems. - Lead discovery workshops, define use cases and target outcomes, and build a business case tied to measurable value. - Shape proposals and statements of work with commercial and technical partners; review scope, estimates, delivery risk, and margin before contracting. - Maintain account pipeline and bookings forecasts, and develop services roadmaps that support follow-on engagements. - Oversee delivery governance, project finances, risks, changes, and customer communications across multiple engagements. - Build relationships with senior stakeholders, surface delivery feedback to product and engineering teams, and contribute to reusable playbooks and scoping practices.
Requirements - At least 10 years in sales and services delivery involving executives and complex technical implementations; the listing also gives a baseline of 8 years with a bachelor’s degree or 6 with a master’s degree, or equivalent experience. - Demonstrated results against targets such as bookings, utilization, platform consumption, or delivery margin. - Experience leading discovery, defining service scope and value propositions, and closing services deals with a sales team. - Strong command of project governance, including work breakdown structures, risk and issue tracking, critical paths, change management, and project financials. - Ability to communicate with C-suite stakeholders while maintaining credibility with engineering and data science teams. - Experience spanning data platform modernization and AI/ML or generative AI adoption, plus the autonomy to work across remote teams and parallel accounts.
Nice to have - Established relationships in New Zealand enterprise, government, or systems integration communities. - Strategy consulting, technical advisory, or cloud data platform implementation experience. - Experience building a services practice or presence in a new market.
